Rapsody Claps Back! Joey Bada$$ Tour Didn’t Fold Over Low Sales

While fans speculated, the Grammy rapper insists the Dark Aura Tour was axed for reasons deeper than ticket numbers

When The Masquerade in Atlanta announced Joey Bada$$’s tour cancellation, fingers pointed fast. Many assumed low ticket sales sank the Dark Aura Tour. But one voice refused to accept that narrative: Rapsody. As a co-support act with Ab-Soul, she publicly denied that underperformance was the cause, calling the speculation lazy.

“Guys. Stop being simple,” she tweeted. “There are a number of reasons tours get cancelled. Tickets sales was not a reason here. Relax. With love!” Her words were a clear stand against rumors, a guardrail around Joey’s brand and artistic intent.

The tour was supposed to hit 25 cities, beginning October 16 in Boston. Major stops included Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and a homecoming show in Brooklyn on November 19 before closing in Philadelphia on November 20. The tour linked directly to Joey’s freshly released project, Lonely At The Top, dropped August 29.

In its announcement, The Masquerade cited “circumstances outside of our control,” offering automatic refunds without naming specifics. That vagueness fueled all the “low sales” talk. But Rapsody wants fans to see the behind-the-scenes isn’t always public; logistics, routing, contracts, production issues, or even artist readiness can play parts.

She’s not new to scrutiny. As a Grammy winner and respected lyricist, she’s built a reputation on integrity, sharp insight, and respect for her craft. Her pushback here protects not just Joey’s snapshot, but hers too.

Will the tour be rescheduled? That is still uncertain. No public statement from Joey or management has fully addressed the reasons yet. But with Rapsody’s response, the “low ticket sales” excuse is officially under dispute.
