Tyler Perry Claps Back! Says Derek Dixon “Needs Help,” Accuses Him of Exploiting Their Past

In the legal war over $260M assault claims, Perry’s camp paints Dixon as the desperate suitor, not the victim

Tyler Perry is pushing back hard. In court filings obtained by People, his legal team argues that actor Derek Dixon’s $260 million lawsuit is a cooked up stunt. They claim Dixon is distorting their friendship and professional relationship for a payday and that he “needs help.”

Dixon’s claims are sweeping. In June he accused Perry of sexual assault, harassment, retaliation, and more, alleging the mogul used his power over Dixon’s career to coerce him into unwanted sexual dynamics. Perry denies it all. The new filing calls Dixon’s accusations “profoundly disappointing, cynical, and above all false.”

The filing seeks to undercut the narrative. It says Dixon’s suit is driven by greed, not truth and even claims the case was filed in the wrong state (California instead of Georgia). Perry’s team argues Dixon is using “Hollywood stereotypes” and hijacking their mentor-mentee backstory.

But Dixon’s side holds firm. His attorney maintains they have texts, messages, and explicit evidence of misconduct. They argue the lawsuit is not a scam but a courageous fight against abuse of power. Dixon says the emotional toll has been real, he filed his complaint with the EEOC in 2024 before exiting The Oval, forfeiting nearly $400,000 over lost roles.

This clash is not just legal. It’s a battle over narrative, power, and who gets to tell their truth. Perry is positioning Dixon as an opportunist who weaponized intimacy and influence. Dixon counters that the system protects big names until someone holds them accountable.

We’re far from seeing a resolution. But the case is already reshaping conversations around consent, control, and the cost of speaking up. In this fight, the defense is fixing to get roasted and the public will be the jury watching.
