The “Fast & Furious” star faces animal cruelty charges as the community reels from a tragic canine attack

Tyrese Gibson is out on bond after turning himself in to authorities in Georgia following allegations his dogs fatally mauled a neighbor’s pet. The actor was booked on a cruelty to animals charge, then released on a $20,000 bond.
The incident stems from September 18, when Gibson’s four Cane Corso (also described as mastiff) dogs allegedly attacked the neighbor’s 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Henry. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the large dogs wandering loose near the neighbor’s property moments before the attack. The smaller dog was found with fatal wounds and internal bleeding.
According to Fulton County police, Gibson had been issued warnings earlier after his dogs were allegedly seen roaming freely multiple times. An arrest warrant was issued after Gibson delayed his compliance.
Gibson’s defense says he was away from home at the time of the fatal attack and had no knowledge of what happened. He claims the dogs had been rehomed to prevent further incidents. His legal team also offered condolences to the grieving family and asserts Gibson is fully cooperating with the investigation.
Local officials stressed that community safety is their priority. Fulton County Captain Nicole Dwyer warned that prior complaints and multiple exposures of the dogs escaping raised serious public risk. Police also note that the four dogs are currently not in their custody.
This case is the latest in Gibson’s legal struggles. In 2024, he faced a contempt order for failing to pay child support; he was later released after settling the debt.
