After a box-office rebound, Will Smith might be heading back to the galaxy, if the script delivers.

Get ready to dig out the black suit and those iconic shades. The rumor mill at Sony Pictures is cranking up once more. The studio has quietly greenlit development of a new Men in Black movie and they want Will Smith back as Agent J.
At the heart of this resurrection, Chris Bremner. The same writer who helped transform the once-tired Bad Boys franchise into a box-office monster is now scripting the next MIB chapter. Bremner penned both Bad Boys: Ride or Die and Bad Boys for Life, and those films hauled in a combined $837 million worldwide.
As of now nobody is officially signed. No director, no cast, nothing set in stone. But Sony’s plan is clear. Once Bremner finishes the script, they’ll send it to Smith first with hopes he’ll return as Agent J, either in full lead mode or perhaps a veteran-mentor role to pass the baton.
Why now? Because the last reboot, MIB: International (2019), tanked. It lacked the old chemistry, and without Smith (or his original partner) fans stayed away. Sony wants to fix that. They believe pulling out the OG Agent J might restore the magic and remind the world why Men in Black once had cult status.
Smith’s own recent comeback (most notably the hit Bad Boys sequel) apparently gave the studio confidence. He proves people still show up at theaters when he’s in front of the camera.
No guarantee this ends up in theaters. Smith might read the script and pass. Bremner might deliver something cringe. Or Sony might decide to go in a different direction. But for now, at least on paper, Agent J might be lighting up the galaxy all over again.
