Ladies and gentlemen, startup your playbills: Ayo Edebiri and Don Cheadle are about to crash Broadway, literally! The dynamic duo are starring in the first-ever New York revival of Proof, David Auburn’s Pulitzer Prize and Tony winning play. This sleek reboot hits the stage in spring 2026, with previews starting March 31 and opening night on April 16.

Let’s talk casting flex. Edebiri, fresh off her Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG sweep for The Bear, steps into Catherine’s shoes. And yes, she slays. Meanwhile, Don Cheadle, Oscar-nominated, MCU royalty, and Broadway veteran (sort of), takes on the father role in his long awaited and full fledged Broadway debut.
Directed by the Hamilton legend Thomas Kail, this revival brings a visual powerhouse. The design team includes Oscar/Emmy winning composer Kris Bowers, Tony winning designer Dede Ayite, along with top tier talent in scenics and lighting.
Still wondering why Proof matters? It’s not just any play, it’s the original nine-ton wooden block in the house of modern drama. Debuting in 2000, it nabbed the Pulitzer and Best Play Tony, then served us the film version with Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins.
