Dog Groomer Arrested for Punching and Slamming Pets

A North Carolina dog groomer is facing felony animal cruelty charges after chilling footage went viral showing her physically assaulting clients’ dogs during grooming sessions. The incident unfolded at Classy Critters Pet Resort & Spa in Mooresville, where at least four dogs were captured being punched, slapped, or slammed during routine care.

The video was filmed secretly by a coworker and posted to Facebook on July 18. In one clip, a terrified dog is spun by the neck then slapped multiple times. In another, a dog is repeatedly punched in the face, raising immediate outrage and over 20 million views online. A suggestive Change.org petition demanding the facility’s shutdown has already gained traction.

Local authorities moved swiftly; 28-year-old groomer Kirsten Rhea Taylor was arrested and charged with four counts of felony animal cruelty. Bond was set at $10,000. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Services are actively investigating potential additional charges.

Classy Critters’ owner “Pam” fired the employee immediately and released a statement calling the behavior “totally unacceptable” and expressing heartbreak over the betrayal of trust. However, she is now accused of threatening the whistleblower with a lawsuit if the videos weren’t removed, raising serious ethical questions about the facility’s handling of the crisis.

A groomer’s job is to care, not cause trauma. Pet owners are understandably furious, and animal rights advocates say this case shows why we need stronger oversight in pet care facilities. When responsible care turns into reckless fist-fights, justice can’t be groomed away.
