Micheal Ward, the 27-year-old British actor best known for Top Boy, Blue Story, and Ari Aster’s upcoming satire Eddington, was charged on July 25 with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police. The alleged incident occurred in January 2023 and involves one woman. Ward denies the accusations, stating he has full confidence his name will be cleared in court.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) authorized the charges after careful review. A spokesperson emphasized Ward’s right to a fair trial and called for sensitive media reporting to avoid prejudicing proceedings. Detectives confirm the alleged victim is receiving specialist support as part of the ongoing investigation.

Ward, a Jamaican-born actor who grew up in East London, rose to fame quickly: winning the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2020 and earning acting nominations for Empire of Light and Small Axe. He’s also been featured in Netflix’s Top Boy and the Sam Mendes film Empire of Light.
In a brief public statement, Ward reiterated his full cooperation with police and his belief that truth will prevail in court. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 28 at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London. Ward’s UK agent, Olivia Bell Management, quickly dropped him, while his US rep at CAA remains publicly silent.
