In Desperate Housewives, Gabrielle’s teenage gardener certainly had a front row seat to suburban scandal, except he apparently had no idea one was brewing.
Jesse Metcalfe, who played John Rowland, recently confessed at a Southfork panel that he was completely “oblivious” to all the rumored tension and feuds among the female leads; Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, Eva Longoria, and Nicollette Sheridan. His explanation? He was just thrilled to have a job.

He admitted to enduring a rough pilot season with little to show for it, until landing that breakout role. “I was just kind of riding the wave,” he said, soaked in gratitude, as he soaked in solo fame.
Let that sink in: while the women on set were Greece morning, slamming doors, and gifting luggage sans some co-stars, Jesse was busy reveling in the ride.
Fast forward to now? A Desperate Housewives reboot titled Wisteria Lane is brewing, but Metcalfe is coy about a return. “I don’t know if they’re going to use any of the original cast,” he teased.
