Megan Thee Stallion Crowned 2025 Mental Health Champion And She’s Not Just Rapping About It

When you use your fame to heal, not just hype, you earn awards and real change

Megan Thee Stallion just added a new title to her résumé, Mental Health Champion of the Year 2025, awarded by The Trevor Project, the nonprofit committed to suicide prevention and crisis help for LGBTQ+ youth. On World Mental Health Day, she stepped out from behind the mic and fronted a moment that matters more than any chart position.

In her acceptance, Megan spoke with that trademark balance of power and vulnerability. She said her goal has always been to “break stigmas around mental health” and provide real spaces for “honest and heartfelt conversations.” She thanked The Trevor Project, called for empathy, and reminded us all, mental health touches every single one of us.

This isn’t just symbolic. Megan’s been in the trenches already. In her Prime Video documentary, she revealed her darkest hours, suicidal thoughts, moments so raw she had to call 911. She launched BadBitchesHaveBadDaysToo.com, a wellness hub with mental health resources, directories, and helplines for Black, LGBTQ+, and underserved communities. She partnered with the California Department of Public Health on the “Never a Bother” campaign to destigmatize seeking help. She even joined the Ad Council’s “Seize the Awkward” initiative to encourage people to talk about their mental health.

The award puts her in rare company. Past honorees include Dua Lipa, Dylan Mulvaney, Janelle Monáe, and Lil Nas X. But what makes Megan’s win stick is authenticity. She’s not operating from a PR template. She’s pulling from the personal.

Beyond the mic, Megan’s work through her Pete & Thomas Foundation supports communities in health, education, housing, wellness — she’s weaving mental wellness into action. As The Trevor Project CEO put it, her activism “doesn’t just stop at words, she builds real, tangible resources for vulnerable communities.”

So this award isn’t just another trophy for the shelf. It’s a spotlight. Megan Thee Stallion is saying loud and clear: it’s okay to not be okay. Use your pain. Use your power. Speak up. And in that voice she’s making room for others in the struggle and in the healing.
