From epic tributes to newcomers lighting up the Extended Play Stage, this year’s lineup is pure fire.

Get your glitter and game face ready because the 2025 MTV VMAs are loaded with star power, first time performances, and red carpet energy that’s off the charts. Hosted by LL Cool J at New York’s UBS Arena on September 7, airing on CBS, MTV, and streaming live on Paramount+, this year’s show promises to be unforgettable.
The main stage is stacked with showstoppers. Lady Gaga, the reigning VMA queen with 12 nominations, returns for the first time since 2020. Expect iconic stage moments. Doja Cat, Post Malone, Sabrina Carpenter, J Balvin with DJ Snake, Conan Gray, Jelly Roll, Tate McRae, Alex Warren, and sombr are all set to perform. It’s a mix of chart-toppers and breakout stars colliding in one explosive night.

The VMAs will also honor legends; Mariah Carey will receive her first-ever Video Vanguard Award. Twenty years after presenting the same award to LL Cool J, she’s back with a career-spanning medley. Ricky Martin will be crowned the first Latin Icon, and Busta Rhymes is taking home the Rock the Bells Visionary Award. Expect full-circle moments dripping in nostalgic power.
On the pre-show front, Nessa and Kevan Kenney will kick things off with indie pop newcomers KATSEYE performing “Gnarly” and “Gabriela.” The Extended Play Stage gets its moment with Bailey Zimmerman and The Kid LAROI, Megan Moroney, and Lola Young delivering their viral hits. It’s where hype meets discovery.
