When Young Love Meets Hip Hop Legacy: Redman Admits Jealousy Over Faith Evans Marrying Biggie!

Redman opened up recently on Acton Entertainment and dropped something both real and unexpected. He admitted that when his high school love Faith Evans married The Notorious B.I.G. in 1994 he felt jealous. Yes the “Redman” who has flexed in countless rap battles, stages, and collaborations, said jealousy visited him when Biggie stepped into Faith’s life.

Redman and Faith Evans go way back. He says her sister introduced them. They were teenagers. He describes Faith then as kind, grounded, a sweetheart. He says they dated when she was in ninth grade and he was just a young church drummer.

Even though their romantic chapter ended before Faith and Biggie got together Redman says they stayed friendly. He says that by the time Faith began her relationship with Biggie he was busy doing his thing on tours having fun, but still able to feel something when news of their union appeared. Jealousy mixed with admiration. He admired Faith’s choices, her intelligence, how she carried herself, how she moved. He felt proud of her successes.

Faith and Biggie married in August 1994. They had a son, Christopher Jordan “C.J.” Wallace, in October 1996. Biggie died in 1997. Faith remained a major voice in R&B. Redman says watching her build her legacy, raise her son, thrive in a competitive industry gave him moments of “wow she’s doing her thing.” He says all he could do was salute her, pray for her, and wish her well.

Just recently Redman and Faith Evans reunited musically. Their collaboration “Hoodstar” with Kid Capri appears on Redman’s album Muddy Waters Too released in December 2024. The video officially dropped September 9, 2025.

Jealousy is messy. Especially when feelings from youth meet fame, legacy, and loss. Redman’s confession is honest. It shows that even in hip hop, where bravado often rules, vulnerability lives under the surface. He could have stayed quiet about the green-eyed emotion. But he chose to speak it. That keeps things human. And that is exactly the kind of story fans need now; raw, real, respectful, and unafraid to admit that sometimes we all want what seems out of reach.
