Cardi B Claps Back with Confidence, Tucks “WAP” & “Up” Into Her New Album, AM I THE DRAMA?

When Cardi B announced her sophomore album Am I the Drama? will drop September 19, the internet recoiled… because she included “WAP” and “Up”. Two chart giants. Two emotional official anthem-makers. But Cardi’s not here for the backlash.

In a live X moment, she went full unapologetic mode:

“This will be the last and only time I’m gonna address this. ‘WAP’ and ‘Up’ are two of my biggest songs. My fans have been asking me to put them on an album, … they deserve a home. I let haters make me not submit ‘WAP’ for the Grammys, and at this point I’m giving my fans what they want! These two songs don’t even count toward first-week sales, so what are y’all even crying about?”

Cardi’s giving real fan service and she’s got math on her side. These throwback hits aren’t bulking up first week metrics, but they do boost RIAA certifications, meaning Am I the Drama? just hit a pre-order milestone of 1.5 million units in the U.S. on release day announcement alone. That’s receipts.

Cardi B just served a lesson in owning your narrative. She’s not the one to let legacy gather dust.
